So there is a new boat on its way trying to break the blockade of the Gaza strip. Again, the people on board call themselves peace activists. If you know that the other side has no choice but to intervene, you are provocing their action — and that is about as far from advancing any hope for a peaceful solution to the mid-east conflict as can be.
I hope those people really are just naîve and think they are on the side of peace. But then again they must be acutely aware that Israel will not let them pass, so whatever happens will also partially be their fault.
Update: After repeated requests from Israel to turn around and subsequent non-compliance from the ship, it was boarded by Iraeli soldiers. No one attacked the soldiers and no one got hurt. Kudos to both parties for keeping their heads cool in a very heated situation.
Since Ghandi, active defiance and courage against unreasonable authority is the definition of a peace activist. Wanting peace and not showing defiance or courage in action is just called having an opinion. Unfortunately, last time broke out in street fighting violence, as in most modern demonstrations anywhere in the world and Isreal reacted as they always do, putting out a fire with explosives.
Jim,
Please have a look at the videos in this post: http://whatswrongwithnorway.wordpress.com/2010/06/04/jews-are-murderers-islam-is-the-religion-of-peace-and-tranquility/ and tell me if you still say that Israel put out the fire with explosives.
Also, if Israel really had planned on violently attacking the boats, why did they attack only one boat?
Why is there so much footage proving the claims Israel makes?
Funny how Pro Israeli sites like these pop up like grass in the summer when it’s convenient…
I’m against the loss of ANY human life , no matter their choices in life , there’s just no way to replace a human life at this time and as such it’s priceless.
But sadly, both Israelies and arabs / Palestinians don’t understand that the conflict they are inn are just a spiral of violence that will just increase over time unless one of the parts are willing to change , but I’m sure that both parts will just blame the other regardless.
So, to whoever the author of this blogg is, please take a bit of time to think for yourself and stop being a pawn of the ideology that is telling you that it is okay to murder another human being. Find ways to achieve your goals without having to hurt or kill your opponent and you might break the evil circle.
Rune,
I totally agree with you that life should be preserved, and killing is wrong. Period.
What I tried to express in my post was a feeling of despair over the actions of so-called peaceful protesters. If you want to bring someone to a table to start peace talks, I do not belive that constantly attacking them by breaking their blockade helps at all. Especially when everyone’s emotions have just been fired up by another incident just like this.
Other than that it is funny how whenever one criticizes one side, it is immideatly concurred that means that one supports the other side, i.e. your comment of this being a pro Israeli blog. Basically, I am just very tired of all the one-sidedness in the reporting that seems to hunt Norwegian media.

I do not know what you are talking about. Please explain in more detail.
Not every Norwegian support those ‘activists’. I personally, think they can lie down under a tractor and die, and the tractor is driven by me. I wish they had weapons, that would give the Israeli a reason to shoot them all. They should not be a part of humanity if they think all humans are equally worth, because that is not the truth. Some people have little reason to exist, such as the Palestine. They are never going to contribute to advancement of human technology in contrast with the Israeli, and thus they should let evolution do its job.
‘Activists’ my ass. People who support them are irrational and let moral affect their every choice. Moral is irrelevant.
I believe in differentiating. I also believe that most activists on those boats really were idealists who thought they actually would help Palestinians.
I also believe that a few of the passengers had a totally different agenda, provoked an attack and milked it for all its worth. Norwegian media gladly accepted to being played.
But I do not like your suggestions of killing the protestors. Not at all.
Moral is highly relevant.
So its something wrong with us for responding to another countriy’s wrong acts?.
Im proud of being a Norwegian and that we have the guts to tell israili fanatics that the path they are following is wrong and that ii will only lead to more grief and losses on both sides.
Of course it is not wrong to react to another country’s wrong acts.
But first we must be able to get the facts straight to see if that other country really has acted wrong. With the filtered information Norwegian media is giving us, I just don’t feel confident to make that call. Lots of videos on youTube seem to suggest that the Israeli forces really did try to not use force, but were met by a brutal mob whose goal was to provoce violence.
Please have a look at the videos posted in another post of mine and tell me that you are still 100% sure that it is soley Israel’s fault what happened:
http://whatswrongwithnorway.wordpress.com/2010/06/04/jews-are-murderers-islam-is-the-religion-of-peace-and-tranquility/
I am acutely aware of the possibility that Israel is also playing the media war, but I am just very allergic when journalists are trying to tell me what to think.
You are superior, you are better!
Due to all the suffering, the troubles and wars you have endured … you have become stronger and better, have gained higher moral standards and are better skilled in any area.
This makes the average Norwegian feel bad! Reminding us of something we are missing, something we have lost.
“No crime is so great as dearing to excel.” (Sir Winston Chuchill)
Also on a personal level, if you are trying to be good, trying to be honest and responsible and right … somebody out there will hate you just becaus you make themselves feel bad.
Sad, but true.
