Spokesman Fahad Qureshi furthermore refuses to comment on Yee’s words, giving the impression that he is agreeing. Reminds me of the protests earlier this year when 3.000 muslims silently stood by while the speaker urged muslims to torture homosexuals to death. I wish Qureshi would have taken note of Basim Ghozlan of the Islamic union, who made a clear statement by calling Yee’s comments “idiotic”. Kudos, Mr. Ghozlan.
Should we accept cruelty to children because it is part of a supposed “culture” or “tradition”? Of course not.
Crime should pay
Thanks to the very lax border patrols, free movement for everyone in the EU and understaffed police, the past year has seen a huge increase in organized crime from abroad. Typically, criminals from eastern Europe would come to Norway for the sole purpose of committing crimes. Even in the rare cases where they did get caught and the police would find space in a local prison to actually keep them for their trial and they subsequently got a prision sentence, criminals in Norwegian prisions are getting paid. Every single day. Thus, a typical eastern European criminal who gets caught, will likely find himself in a better housing situation that at home, while getting paid about as much as if he’d found an honest occupation for himself in his homeland. In other words, Norwegian politicians have made it almost mandatory (in the sense of: you are stupid if you don’t do it) for people from poor countries to commit crimes.
Now some politicians have thought aloud that foreign criminals should be prosecuted here in Norway, but serve their sentence in their home country – thus making a prison sentence actually a deterrent rather than a free stay in a luxurious full service hotel. Jump in trusty Left party, who always seem more concerned with their ideology, rather than what normal people worry about. They suggest that Norway should pay for erecting prisons in those countries, to ensure that criminals who commit crimes in Norway are treated to high quality imprisonment. In other words, the Left party wants to build a two-class system of criminals in other countries. Crap prisons for those stupid enough to commit crimes at home. Lovely prisons for those who traveled to Norway to commit those crimes.

So what to do about the non-criminals?
well, they don’t get that much, the state uses it on criminals instead.
Set an example… show how this can be turned around.
we need someone to show the world, that we dont threat criminals with silk-gloves.
that doesnt mean we should torture them, or put them in a snake pit or whatever.. but we cant keep treating them like babies.
instead of building a prison in every country, which willl cost forever..
build a special prison, for foreigners who commit crime, here in Norway. where we can lock up these people.
I understand that these people most probably are poor, and have had a sad life, and we shouldnt punish them for it. But when they come here to exploit us and steal from us, who are we if we dont punish them???

Maybe you feel that I Jump to conclusions, but my GUESS is based on this type of crime, and my impression of crimes like this is that its almost always done by someone from another country with different religion than what we scandinavians usually have. I would say that neither a real muslim or atheist would kill an old person because of a parking incident. This is obviously a person with mental problems.
Which leads us to the problem that quite often unstable people are released from a closed institution even though they are not 100% ready to function in the real world.

Having said that, it is amazing how many inmates in Norway happen to be Muslim – they are grossly overrepresented.
But the main problem is really that the media does not report on the ethnicity. If a crime is committed by an ethnic Norwegian, you can bet that this will be written about. Thus we are by now trained to assume that when an article lacks any description of the attacker, he will most likely be of foreign descent and/or of Muslim belief.
While I know that the Værsomplakat asks journalists to not give away ethnicity, I strongly believe that this measure actually increases racism – as it increases uncertainty, and uncertainty can lead to fear.

I don’t see how it would be unfair to state a person’s religion; after all whenever someone Christian does something wrong, the religion definitely makes it into the headline. Remember the mistreatment of children by Catholics? Of course; the pope had to write an apology (rightfully). Remember the Christian militia that wanted to attack US targets? Of course Christianity was mentioned in the headline.
I am not asking to shout out an offender’s religion, but it should be made clear whenever a crime is commited by a non-norwegian or 1st, 2nd or 3rd generation immigrant. Because unless we KNOW if these people commit crimes we tend to fear for the worst.
Either it is true that many crimes are commited by them – in which case we would have to rethink the current policy. Or it turns out that not many crimes are committed by them. Either way this is crucially important for a successful integration: Knowledge about each other, and free flow of information.
The problem with not mentioning muslim offenders’ religion leads to the problem then even when a crime is commited by a non-muslim (and many are), when there is no information about who commited the crime, by now we are trained to think “probably foreigner/non-ethnic Norwegian”.

This is of course very open to interpretation, but many journalist err on the safe side when the story concerns non-ethnic Norwegians. Though there has been some change the past year or so.

I agree, most muslims are normal people, and do nothing wrong. And we never hear anything about them, we only see/hear about the criminals and extremists. Maybe they could try to do more good things and show the world that they are good people, because we never get that side of them. I dont know if thats their fault or the medias or that we just dont cant/wont see it, but I cant say Ive noticed anything muslims have done thats really good, like helping the homeless or collecting money for water for people in Africa and so on. I would like to see more of that..And the muslims, at least the ones that live in free countries, could/should also cry out when extremists say/do things on behalf of all muslims, if they dont agree with them. That way we would see that they are not all crazy and may people see they are mostly good people and dont have to fear them. Religion is supposed to be a good thing, but as someone said, we should not fear religion, but we should fear what man can do in its name, or something like that..that goes for every religion.
